WHO WE ARE
We are Comboni Missionary Sisters “Pie Madri della Nigrizia”, Women consecrated for the mission of Jesus Christ under the Charism of St. Daniel Comboni our Founder. Founded in 1872 at Verona, Italy to strive to be a sign of the Kingdom of God in the world
The Comboni Missionary Sisters are an institute of consecrated women dedicated to mission, following the Comboni charism. They operate under a synodal government and strive to be a sign of the Kingdom of God in the world.
To be tangible sign of the kingdom of God proclaiming/ continuing/ promoting the mission of Jesus Christ ad gentes in harmony with all creation Jn 10:10
To be a tangible sign of the Kingdom of God, embodying the values of the Gospel through synodal commitment and community work. We promote social transformation, human dignity, justice and solidarity in all the countries where we operate.

FOUNDATION TEAM
St. Daniel Comboni is the founder of the Comboni missionary Sisters. This came out of his experience of mission in Africa that the fmilies are only open for the women to visit and interact with. The men are looked with suspiscion.
Mother Maria Bollezoli the first formator and the Mother general of the Comboni Missionary Sisters. She was being instructed directly by the founder according to the needs of the mission of Africa.
The Comboni Missionary Sisters were founded by Saint Daniel Comboni. He established the congregation of the Pie Madre della Nigrizia” in 1872 from his mission experience he emphasized the role of women in evangelization in Africa.
Arrival in Uganda :The first Comboni Sisters arrived in Uganda on December 6, 1918, after a challenging journey from Khartoum, Sudan. Our first mission in Uganda was in Gulu, where they engaged in catechism, nursery education, and health care, quickly gaining the trust and affection of the local community.
